1.Launch of ORiON CLOUD
We are starting the operation of ORiON CLOUD, which allows customers to check the status of ORiON Plus routers on their ships directly via web access.
Below is the information accessible from ORiON CLOUD:
・Ship location information
・Status of each communication infrastructure connection
・Ticket system usage status
・Camera images on the ship (ORiON EYE)
・ORiON DRIVE
・Links to ORCA applications such as DRS
・(and more, with continuous expansion)
Accessing ORiON CLOUD requires a token key in addition to an ID and password, ensuring strong security. We will provide detailed access instructions to each shipping company sequentially, so please wait for further communication.
2.Implementation of ORiON DRIVE Functionality
The ORiON Plus router on each ship comes with 128GB of built-in storage, part of which can now be used as a shared folder between the ship and the shore.
When files are placed in this folder on the ship, they are synchronized with the shore server and can be accessed via ORiON CLOUD. Similarly, files placed via ORiON CLOUD from the shore are synchronized to the ORiON Plus on the ship and can be accessed from each PC on board. Unlike email attachments, there are no restrictions on file size or type, making it useful for providing installers or transferring large files to the ship.
Synchronization timing can be set to manual or automatic, allowing for scenarios such as synchronizing while the ship is in port and able to use 4G communication, thus saving satellite communication costs. The ORiON DRIVE function will be implemented in ORiON Plus routers shipped after April 2018. For routers already installed on ships, this function will be available through a firmware update.
3.Change in Provision System for ORiON Plus Router
Until now, the ORiON Plus router has been provided to customers on an initial purchase basis.
However, to properly provide various new features and firmware updates to our customers, please note that starting from April 2018, we will switch to a rental system. With rental provision, we will handle all updates and replacements in case of failures at no additional cost to the customer.
For ships that have already purchased the ORiON Plus router, updates and replacements in case of failure will be handled as per the rental system during the three-year warranty period from the date of purchase. After the warranty period, we would appreciate it if you could switch to a rental contract in case of failure or need for updates.
